SRR Spirit of Excellence Award Winners Honored

Aiken, S.C. -- The winners of the first Savannah River Remediation LLC (SRR) "Spirit of Excellence" awards were honored at a dinner that was held to honor individual employee contributions measured by leadership, innovation, safety, conduct of operations and overall results.
The five award categories and the winners were:
- President's Award – Mark Keefer, New Technology Deployment Manager, for his innovative approach to a process plan. This plan was an excellent example of Mark's ability to bridge strategic thinking with tactical execution and articulation of a plan to success to multiple stakeholders.
- Enterprise Award – Denise Long, Senior Records/Information Management Specialist, for her proven leadership in the area of safety and the behavior based safety process at work, in the community and at home.
- Project Assurance Award – Jita Morrison, Integrated Safety Management System Lead, for voluntarily leading a team that enabled SRR to have a verified Integrated Safety Management System program.
- Project Execution Award – Bill Jones, Senior E&I Mechanic, for being a dedicated, extremely knowledgeable and effective mechanic who routinely solves complex equipment issues that directly impact Defense Waste Process Facility production.
- Project Support Award – Toby Hess, Lead Operations Specialist, for his demonstrated high-level of leadership and teamwork during the development of a Contract's document.
Jim French, SRR President and Project Manager, acknowledged the winners and, along with the SRR leadership team, congratulated them for their hard work and dedication to the mission at SRR.
"These recipients have demonstrated the ability to get the job done safely and at a high level," he told the crowd at the dinner held in the recipients' honor this week. "They are representative of a talented workforce."
French reminded everyone that SRR has had a successful and safe year, and that he was proud to recognize these employees for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions.
SRR is the Savannah River Site's (SRS) Liquid Waste contractor. SRS is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. The SRS Liquid Waste contract is managed by SRR, a team of companies led by URS Corp. with partners Bechtel National, CH2M Hill and Babcock & Wilcox. Critical subcontractors for the contract are AREVA, Energy Solutions and URS Safety Management Solutions.
