SRR Donates $10,000 to S.C. State’s Nuclear Engineering Program for Scholarships

AIKEN, S.C. – Savannah River Remediation LLC (SRR) has donated $10,000 to South Carolina State University (SCSU). The university will use the donation to fund scholarships in its Nuclear Engineering Program.SCSU’s Nuclear Engineering Program is the only accredited program of its kind in South Carolina.
Jim French, SRR President and Project Manager, said SRR is pleased to be able to support SCSU through the Nuclear Engineering Program.
“S.C. State provides a pipeline of trained workers who understand our nuclear Liquid Waste mission,” French said. “Savannah River Remediation will need employees who can help us achieve our contract goal of closing 22 waste tanks in eight years, and we will continue to look to institutions, such as S.C. State, to provide our future talent.”
French presented the check at last week’s SCSU Board of Trustees meeting in Orangeburg. SRR is the Savannah River Site’s (SRS) Liquid Waste contractor.
SRS is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. SRR is composed of a team of companies led by URS Corp. with partners Bechtel National, CH2M Hill and Babcock & Wilcox. Critical subcontractors for the contract are AREVA, Energy Solutions and Washington Safety Management Solutions.
