AIKEN, S.C. – Aiken County Schools are "building a better tomorrow, one child at a time," Dr. Beth Everitt told the Executive Management Team of Savannah River Remediation LLC (SRR).

Everitt, Aiken County School District Superintendent, attended a special luncheon at the Savannah River Site (SRS) last month at the invitation of SRR President and Project Manager Jim French to give a "State of the Schools" report. French invited the Superintendent as a way to educate and engage his staff on the progress and issues in Aiken County Schools.

"While local schools are faced with many challenges today, hearing Dr. Everitt opened our eyes on what the opportunities are throughout the District," French said. "We received a great deal of information, and we are better for learning more about our schools and how we can help."

Dr. David Moody, the new U.S. Department of Energy-Savannah River Manager, attended the presentation as well.

SRR is the SRS's Liquid Waste contractor, and SRS is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. SRR is composed of personnel from a team of companies led by URS with partners Bechtel National, CH2M Hill and Babcock & Wilcox. Critical subcontractors for the contract are AREVA, Energy Solutions and URS Safety Management Solutions.
