July 21, 2010
AIKEN, S.C. – Savannah River Remediation (SRR) LLC is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and strives to promote and maintain a work environment where employees are respected and treated fairly.![]() |
Stephanie Dingle, the SRR Manager of EEO, Employee Concerns Program and Employee Relations, attended the annual Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Conference for EEO managers and professionals earlier this month. The conference is held to train all federal agencies and contractors, such as SRR. To train attendees, the conference provides information about the most recent cases closed by the EEOC, including fines and sanctions to agencies and contractors, along with updates to federal laws and recent investigations. There were more than 1,000 participants at the conference. |
Dingle said that SRR is following the right path for its EEO work.
SRR has integrated EEO into the company in several ways, including training 340 managers and leads, recognizing SRR Veterans with photos on a Wall of Heroes, and providing EEO training for all employees starting July 26.
"It was refreshing to hear we are aligned with the EEOC's policies on treatment of employees, responsiveness in processing complaints, conducting investigations, and determining the appropriate remedy or level of discipline when necessary," she said.
"Also, I am very pleased to validate that the actions we take are in accordance with the EEOC's standards, and we can be proud about the progress we've made as a company and the way we work together towards a common goal," she said.
SRR manages the Liquid Waste contract at the Savannah River Site, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. SRR is composed of personnel from a team of companies led by URS Corporation with partners Bechtel National, CH2M Hill and Babcock & Wilcox. Critical subcontractors for the contract are AREVA, Energy Solutions and URS Safety Management Solutions.
